The Simpson's have been involved in Dalo since it became a commercial crop; prior to this they had been buying copra from coconut farmers on the island. This business was started in 1986, after the W.R. Carpenter Group subsidiary, Island Industries, stopped milling copra and government started the copra millers of Fiji company in savusavu.
Copra has been part of the Simpson family since the 1830’s, and in the tradition of our forefathers we plan to develop a cold press, virgin, coconut oil mill in 2007.
The coconut industry has been in a worldwide depression for many years due to competition from many other seed oils, such as Soya, corn, canola, and palm oil.In an unsurprising turn of events, the coconut, the tree of life is having a renaissance, due to its amazing qualities as an omega 3 vegetable oil.
This miracle oil and food is about to provide once more the base for all processed foods, as it did prior to the 1960’s, to control one off the greatest threats to the west, obesity
